Blouses
Huipil Mexicano~ Our Huipil Blouses require an artisan's exceptional ability to embroider by hand and combine all colors beautifully. All our blouses are UNIQUE and carefully stitched by a Mexican artisan woman. Each blouse/huipil takes1-2 weeks to be made. The blouses are made of manta fabric (100% cotton) with cotton threads. Make sure to look at the inside of the blouse to see all the work that goes into each one of our huipiles/blouses!
*These blouses should be hand washed with cool water and hung up to air-dry. Do not soak or bleach.
Jalapa Blouses~ Our Jalapa Blouses take a single person approximately two weeks to make. All thread is carefully stitched to represent the beauty and colors of nature, such as hummingbirds, a variety of flowers, birds, and other beautiful figures. The blouses are made of rayon and the thread is made of cotton. Make sure to look at the inside of the blouse to see all the work that goes into each one of our blouses!
Oaxaca Blouses~ Our Oaxaca blouses are light and great for traveling! They are all meticulously hand embroidered with cotton threads. These blouses are not only artisanal but also voguish!
Manta Blouses with Embroidery~ Our manta blouses are embroidered with cotton threads on a "Manta" fabric. All stitching figures are made by hand and not with a machine. It takes our artisans from 1-2 days (approximately) to make each blouse. Please measure one of your non-stretchy blouses so you know which size is right for you!
Blusa de Telar con Deshilado~ Our telar blouses are made with cotton threads using a back strap loom. First, the artisans make thread balls using a wooden warper. Then, they move the thread balls to a wooden loom and set thread by thread on it until it is tight. Afterwards, the artisans begin weaving the fabric using a back strap loom, held on one side from the wooden loom and on the other side by their waste. Finally, the artisans fold the fabric in half and confection it into a blouse by hand stitching the sides of it. It takes our artisan partners 24-40 hours (approximately) to make each blouse. Working with a back strap looms is difficult and requires expertise, artistry, and lots of love and patience! Please measure one of your non-stretchy blouses so you know which size is right for you!
